New Cell Phone

Has anyone else seen the interest piece on CNN concerning a cell phone which can read a wide variety of documents. I missed the brand name of the phone but it scan and type of text and converts it to speech. The clip featured a man with a visual impairment using it to read menus, books, newspapers and signs in a store. The phone retails for $1600 US.

That sounds like a wonderful new invention. I haven't seen it yet. It's too bad that it is so expensive though. $1600 will prevent a lot of people from buying it.

Hi Denise,

I couldn't find any info. about the cell phone w/ the $1, 600 price tag.

I did find a phone-http://www.mobilewhack.com/nokia-6682rvi---talking-cellphone-for-vision-impaired-users/ that comes w/ screen talking software...
It retails for $199. Maybe it does not have the same bells & whistles!!

Denise, On this "Snowed-In Day", I'm taking time to blog about the Weds.' presentations!
So rewarding to hear about the progress of your student. Reading for some of our students can be a frustrating process. I'm glad it turned into a joy for her. She's gained a skill and an interest for life!
